Operates lathe, milling machines, grinders, drill presses, band saws, sharpeners, etc.
Operate and program CNC mills by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, and compensation; proving part programs.
Operates the machines using proper methods and safety equipment.
Selects appropriate machine and settings for a given task.
Plans proper sequence of tasks to complete the assignment.
Takes precise measurements for cutting or shaping.
Identifies need for and performs machine maintenance and minor repairs.
Reviews drawings, instructions, or samples to ensure accurate production.
Maintains a safe and clean workstation.
Plans stock inventory by checking stock to determine amount available; anticipating needed stock; placing and expediting orders for stock; verifying receipt of stock.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
Coordinates and communicates information as required.
High school required, apprenticeship and college preferred.
Experience with tool and die making processes, mold formations and constructions, understanding of engineering, machining techniques
